Aunt Flo: Drama and Dodgy Periods

Aunt Flo answers your Q's about your monthly cycle!

This winter feels like it’s lasted exactly one trillion years. It seems like I’ve been chilly for all of eternity. WHERE. IS. SUMMERRRRRR?

Maybe some of ya’ll can relate, but I have a touch of the winter blues. Sure, Cheer cheered me up (Go Navarro!), but there are only so many times I can watch Morgan nail her baskets (before I rage with jealousy over her absolute perfection). So, I checked in with the Knixteen team to see if there were any questions for me in their inbox. Giving advice is my favorite hobby, so I knew this would make me feel better! Let’s go FULL OUT!

Oh the mysteries of a new period! Irregular periods are totally common for the first few years. It’s a new schedule for your body, and it’s normal for it to take some time for your body to get adjusted to the cycle. On top of this, there are a ton of factors that play into the timing of your cycle. Maybe you’re super stressed over a school project! Maybe you’re recovering from that nasty winter cold! All of these play a role in your period’s schedule.

While irregular periods are super common at first, definitely talk to a doctor if you think something funky is going on. If you have severe pain, extra heavy or long periods, or stop getting your period all together, it might be worth it to have a chat with a professional whose not Aunt Flo!

If you’re anything like me, I want to talk to my BFF constantly. So I get that it can feel really hard when you start feelin’ a little bit of distance, and you’re not sure why!

If you’re constantly trying to initiate convo or a hang out  (and your pal isn’t following through) I’d put a pause on that. It really sucks, but give your friend some space! The way they’re acting might not feel totally chill, but the silent treatment most likely doesn’t have anything to do with you. They may be going through a tough time with something, and as much as you want them to share that with you, they may not be ready. You never know! Let them know you’re there for them, and then take a little break from constantly initiating the friendship. Sometimes even your closet friend needs some down time!! They’ll come to you when they’re ready. BFFs can get thru anything.
