KT Pride Class of 2021

Celebrating our colorful community Pride month and beyond.

Like our big sister Knix, KT has always been about celebrating our colorful community. And although we can’t dance in any Pride Parades this year, it doesn’t mean we can’t still march along with all the people who make us incredibly proud.

Stay tuned this month for a very special Pride announcement!

Did you know? 🌈

You’ll be seeing the rainbow about one million times this month! And for good reason. It’s not just a colorful flag to wave, it was made intentionally to celebrate the colorful 2SLGBTQ+ community. A Pride icon— symbolic of solidarity, power, and community, it was created by activist Gilbert Baker in 1978. Said to be inspired by Judy Garland’s Over the Rainbow and the Stonewall Riots that happened only a few days before, Baker assigned every color a meaning:

Red for life, orange for healing, yellow for sunlight, green for nature, blue for harmony and purple for spirit.

Recently however, you may notice a few additions to the flag. New black and brown stripes pay necessary attention to the unique experiences faced by queer people of color, while the blue, white and pink stripes put focus on the trans members of the 2SLGBTQ+ community as well.

With the unifying rainbow flag flying in celebration of equally colorful people, we cannot wait to continue celebrating community on KT all month long. Follow along with @ktbyknix and The Rag all month long for stories by people in our community we’re so proud to know!

Kicking off Pride month are some proud members of Team Knix and KT! Celebrating with some good tunes, friends in the park and some colorful tanks (of course), our KT Pride Class of 2021 is one community we love being part of.

Have a safe and happy Pride!

Love, KT
