DivaCup™ Model 0 FAQs

The DivaCup Model 0 holds 4 tsp of blood. That’s the equivalent of 4 tampons or pads.

It’s totally fine to wear the DivaCup for up to 12 hours straight, depending on your flow. Be sure to empty, wash, and rinse it no less than two to three times per 24-hour period.

When inserted properly and changed regularly, you should experience no leaks while wearing the DivaCup. However, if you want peace of mind, you can always wear our period underwear as backup—no need for disposable pads or pantyliners. This will ensure 100% total protection.

Do not use your DivaCup straight out of the box. Before your first use, submerge it in an open, stainless-steel pot filled with boiling water for 5-10 minutes. It’s important not to skip this step! In between cycles, no boiling is required. Just use a mild, unscented, oil-free soap to clean the rim and holes. Be sure to give some extra attention to the four little holes at the top of your cup. Store your DivaCup in the cute reusable bag that comes with the kit and keep it away from perfumes and scented products. NOTE: Tempting as it may be, don’t put your DivaCup in the dishwasher.

Don’t worry, you got this. First, wash your hands, then do your best to relax. Ready? Let’s go.

Take Your Pick

You have two options: Get comfortable on the toilet or stand with one leg up on the bathtub, then gently separate your labia with your free hand.

Insert

Fold the DivaCup between your thumb and forefinger, and push the curved part into your vagina horizontally.

Rotate

Once the cup is in place, grip the base (not the skinny part), and turn the cup one complete rotation—360 degrees. This will create a seal.

There are two easy methods:

Option A: U-Fold

Press the sides of the cup between your fingers and fold it in half to create a U shape.

Option B: Push-Down Fold

Using your index finger, push the top rim of the cup into the center of the cup base to create a triangle.

The first steps are the same as when you insert the cup: Wash your hands and take a deep breath. Then you’re ready to get started.

Find a comfy position

Sit on the toilet or stand with one leg up on the bathtub and gently separate your labia with your fingers. Using your forefinger and thumb, gently tug the stem until you can feel the base of the cup.

Pinch and pull

Squeeze the base of the cup (not the skinny part) and gently wiggle the cup from side to side while pulling down.

Pour out the blood

Now dispose of your flow in the toilet. And that’s pretty much it! Here’s a handy video that explains it all.

Inserting and removing the cup can be intimidating at first but it’ll get easier every time (we swear!). The DivaCup won’t get “lost” inside you since the vagina does not connect to your other body parts. When you put it in the right way, the DivaCup should sit low at the base of the canal, away from the cervix, making it possible for you to easily grab the stem and grip the base to take it out. The key is to stay relaxed!

Other than when you’re having vaginal sex, you’re free to wear the DivaCup for any activity. This includes sporty or outdoorsy things like swimming, running, yoga, gymnastics, hiking—you name it! If you are using the correct size and have inserted the DivaCup correctly, it shouldn’t budge or leak no matter how active you are. NOTE: The DivaCup should only be used when you’re on your period.

Go right ahead! The DivaCup won’t stand in the way of normal bodily functions.

GREATEST EXPERIENCE

I loved this menstrual cup! I did at lot of research about reusable period products and settled on buying a menstrual cup and period underwear.

My first time inserting the cup wasn't as hard as I thought it would be. I'm 17, and I just started using tampons because I prefer the feeling of dry underwear to that of a pad. Inserting the cup was almost the same as a tampon, only I had to twist it at the end. I was nervous about trying out a cup because I thought it would be too big, but after folding this cup it fit perfectly.

It also wasn't too difficult to remove the cup. Just pull on the stem, then squeeze the base of the cup to finish removing it. It only took me a couple of tries for the first time I removed this cup. I wore it overnight and I had no leaks. 10 OUT OF 10 RECOMMEND!!
